HUNGRY
As this blog is being written, myself and my church (WOL and CLC) are in the sixth day of a 21-day fast. When you hear the title of the blog, you probably think “yeah, I bet”. The hunger however is far beyond what you think. I am hungry for more. Jesus said in John 6:48-51:
“I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
I’m hungry for more in the church. As we fast and pray, we realize what matters most in life. More and more I’m becoming aware that Jesus (the Bread of Life) is the only one that will satisfy. I want Jesus, the Bread of Heaven, more than anything and I want my mouth to be full of the Bread that He is. I want Bread in every service. I don’t preach well without it. Our singers don’t sing well without it. And, we are not the true church without it. In church, when the Bread of Life is present, nobody wants to leave. Read Acts 16 which describes Paul and Silas in a Philippian jail for a great example.
Hunger for more at home. As one of my friends has stated in a great book on fasting, Jesus must not be just a side dish in our home, but our main course. Dads, it’s time that we step up big and allow Jesus to be the Bread of Life in our homes. Looking back over my childhood I now realize there was always Bread in our house. It’s the reason I could not stray very far and the reason I discovered courage to receive Jesus and to become a difference maker. I don’t mean to write a book, I’m just hungry for this and other key things only more of Jesus can bring, not only for me but for you and your family. |
